It was such a great pleasure to recently spend the morning at the Army Logistics Training Centre at North Bandiana and to speak with Commandant Colonel Clare Kellaway.

I was impressed to hear of recent deployments of ADF staff to assist in flood affected areas, of their successful training programs, and of exciting plans for the future.

This was followed by a tour of the facility to see first-hand the amazing and important training being presented and to hear of their successes and how I can be of assistance going forward.

One of the key messages I gained from the visit was the great opportunity that exists for the Army Logistics Training Centre and Albury Wodonga Health to work collaboratively to share, develop, and grow training programs.

The ALTC was formed at Bonegilla back in 1982 and today boasts an expanded site offering a range of training to the tri-services, Army, Airforce, and Navy.

While the ALTC offers tri-services training in a range of trades, I was given a tour of the School of Health and the Schools of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

I spoke with young enrolled nurses who were now training as Medics and doing an extension into Military Contextulisation, saw trainee enrolled nurses doing practical examinations on dummies, and young Craftsmen currently training in heavy diesel and electrical mechanics.

To say I was impressed is an understatement, the level of optimism, motivation, and commitment by the many I met was inspiring. I commend our dedicated defence personnel, veterans, and all the trainees I met today for their service.

In the images you see Commandant Army Logistics Training Centre, Colonel Clare Kellaway, Craftsman De Montille and Air Craftsman Mooney from the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Lieutenant Colonel Troy Wilson.
