The announcement by the ARTC that the preferred option for replacing the Anderson Street Bridge in Euroa for the Inland Rail project is an underpass is encouraging news.
The community has made its preference for an underpass known for years now and it is a great sign that the ARTC has listened and will be acting on the strong message from the community.
At the start of this process the community didn’t feel listened to by the ARTC, but this is a huge step forward, both for Inland Rail and for relations between Euroa and the ARTC.
I am proud to have worked with the community in Euroa over the last few years to make sure your voices were heard.
There is still more to go in this process – I know many people feel they have already taken part in many consultations, but now the ARTC is sharing technical information and visualisations and seeking feedback.
I really encourage the people of Euroa to look at this information and take part in the consultation. The underpass will still be a big change for the town and this is an important time to have a say in the future of your town’s streetscape. I am confident in the people of Euroa to continue to work with the ARTC constructively and in good faith.
