On my recent trip to Mansfield I dropped in on the Mansfield CWA craft morning, which happens on the first and third Wednesday of each month. What an industrious and creative group of women!
I especially loved
the baby hampers, like this one here, filled with nappies, clothes and singlets and other essentials for new parents, gifted to every Mansfield newborn. There were around 65 last year – an incredible achievement. But these women are not resting on their laurels. The next target is to create 100 teddies for the Melbourne Show. I know these members can do anything they set their minds to – whether it’s crocheting, knitting, sewing, or being a kind and compassionate support to those in need.
Ninety-two years after it was established, the Mansfield CWA epitomises the spirit of CWAs – empowering and supporting women, children and families right across Australia, and we are all better for what they contribute to our communities.
Thank you to President Fiona Greenaway and CWA members for welcoming me.
