Poor telecommunications in regional Australia is a safety issue and a productivity issue. As many towns in Indi like Bright are experiencing, even when there is coverage, there is a huge capacity issue at peak tourist times.

It’s great that businesses in Bright are finding their own solutions, but it shouldn’t have had to come to this.

This is why in the last Parliament I introduced the Faster Internet for Regional Australia Bill that would require average speeds of 25 megabits per second all day every day, not just once per day. It’s why I have fought to eliminate mobile black spots and finish the NBN build.

I’ve already wrriten to the new Communications Minister about these issues and will continue to advocate for better phone and internet coverage for Indi with the new Government.
