One of my favourite things about our region is the great outdoors and how we are encouraged to get outside and be active in our environment.
It was such a thrill to join the Beechworth Chain Gang Mountain Bike
Club last week and learn about the program they are running on Thursday afternoons at the Mountain Bike Park.After receiving a federally-funded Stronger Communities Programme grant last year, the club has built a new skills park, which has been an absolute hit and there are usually between 65 and 75 kids each week in attendance.
The Beechworth Chain Gang has also recently received funding to run a six month long coaching program for women and girls new to the sport.
Thanks to President, Lynn Frerichs, Program Director, Brendan Grigg and parents for supporting these young people.
It was wonderful to get out on my bike after a long day of meetings, and a reminder that no matter how dreary our weather has been lately, it’s always better to get active and outside!
