Regional, edge-of-grid towns deserve reliable and secure power supply.
Too many places in Indi and regional Australia are confronted with repeat power outages which is unsafe, costly and incredibly frustrating for residents. This issue occurs because towns are at the edge of the grid or bushfire mitigation technology (REFCL) kicks in to protect the community.
I’ve been working with communities on solutions to help them keep the lights on, including micro-grid technology in Corryong to improve energy resilience in times of an outage – as experienced in the Black Summer fires of 2019-20.
I’m pushing for funding for micro-grids to triple to $150 million so more is done for our small towns that suffer from unreliable power supply or who experience frequent outages.
