The doors are officially open at the Tim Fischer AC Veterans & Families Hub.
I was honoured to join Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Matt Keogh at the opening today, along with hundreds of members of our defence force, veterans community and RSLs from across our region.
The Hub will connect veterans and their families with advocacy support, education and training, employment, physical and mental health support, and serve the needs of our strong veteran community in Albury Wodonga and surrounding regions. It is open for drop-ins from Wednesday 7 December at 149 High Street Wodonga.
One of my first meetings as Member for Indi was with Wayne Taylor from the Hume Veterans’ Information Centre about the government’s funding promise to veterans’ support on the Border.
Ever since then I’ve worked to make sure that promise was delivered. I’m so pleased that this Hub will be the new home for the volunteers and professionals who serve our veteran community.
A tremendous amount of effort, patience and perseverance from many people has gone into this project coming to fruition, and I congratulate them all.
The Hub is named in honour of Tim Fischer AC, himself a veteran who continued his lifetime of service as the Deputy Prime Minister. The Hub will serve our community proudly.
