The message from the border community is crystal clear: we need more from the Victorian, NSW and federal governments to deliver a single-site hospital on the border.
It’s not just the community saying this. In
a letter made public by NSW Greens MLC Dr Amanda Cohn last night, the CEO and Chair of Albury Wodonga Health confirmed that the funding pledged so far won’t meet the health needs of our communities. We need transparency, accountability and clarity so our communities can have trust in government and confidence in decision-making processes.
Today I attended the Albury Wodonga Regional Health Summit and facilitated a panel including representatives from the NSW and Federal Governments. It was a positive step, but it won’t be the last.
We need all levels of Government to come back to the table to ensure the best decisions are made in the best interests of the health of our communities.
I am committed to a single-site hospital that is fit for purpose, that puts people at the centre of service delivery, and is capable of training and retaining a world-class healthcare workforce.
