The plight of women in Afghanistan isn’t in the headlines but the reality is the situation is still grave and requires our attention.
Today in Parliament I attended a passionate presentation from the Australian organisation Azadi-e Zan (Free Women) who are looking for practical support to bring skilled women to safety in Australia.
Women are no longer free to work in skilled jobs within Afghanistan and Azadi-e Zan are hoping to provide an appropriate pathway for women that will provide them with security and will compliment Australia’s skilled workforce.
This was a bi-partisan event and MPs from across the spectrum were in attendance.
