The Violet Town Bowls Club ‘Jack Attack’ competition has been awarded Strathbogie Shire’s Event of the Year – congratulations!
Jack Attack is a bowls competition in a new format, welcoming members from across the community, many who are new to bowls. I dropped into the bowls club recently to learn about the ways in which the club is constantly innovating in what it offers to involve more members of the community, and what support they need for their facilities.
It was a great visit and I even had a go myself – I can see why so many people got involved and keep coming back.
Years ago, there used to be rules about the length of skirts of women while playing bowls – Leanne got out the old measuring device and my dress passed – although I don’t think my bowling skills did!
Thank you Leanne, Margaret, Bill, Graham and Allan for your generous hospitality!
