We know here in Australia that we are currently experiencing the worst wave of the COVID-19 pandemic since it first emerged. And, like many of you, I am experiencing it firsthand.
Unfortunately, I tested positive to COVID-19 this weekend and I have started isolating for the next week.
In good news, I have so far been quite fortunate and I am experiencing mild symptoms. I am grateful that I was able to receive my fourth vaccination a few weeks ago.
In disappointing news, I will have to miss Parliament this week and rest up and stay home. I have informed the Speaker and the relevant people in Canberra that I will be absent from proceedings. I am feeling most keenly that I will miss the debate on the Government’s Climate Change Bill and won’t be in the Parliament to speak on many issues that are important to the people of Indi, and will miss some meetings that have been long planned. I know many people who have had COVID already will relate to the disappointment of cancelling plans that you were looking forward to. It is a reality which we must all deal with.
As I am feeling OK, I will be doing my best to keep up my existing commitments online where possible, and to stay informed with what is happening in Parliament.
