People who pose a real risk to public safety – including violent extremists – should not be able to own firearms in Australia.

Gun reforms voted on in Parliament today strengthen safeguards, improve intelligence-sharing between state and federal police, and supports states to keep communities safe – while respecting responsible gun ownership in regional Australia.

Decisions about firearm limits and licensing remain a matter for states and territories.
