Hodgson Meets Norway's Energy Minister Aasland

Yesterday, the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, met with Norway's Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland, during the International Energy Agency Ministerial Meeting in Paris, France.

The Ministers discussed shared priorities in the Arctic, including environmental protection, international co-operation and the importance of upholding a rules-based approach in the region. Co-operation on multilateral critical minerals mechanisms, including the Critical Minerals Production Alliance and the Critical Minerals Action Plan, was also raised.

Minister Hodgson highlighted Canada's interest in renewable energy and clean energy technologies, including carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), and inquired about Norwegian interests in Canada's oil and gas sector.

Both Ministers reaffirmed their strong bilateral partnership and agreed to continue advancing co-operation across clean and conventional energy, critical minerals and the Arctic.
