KATTER’S CoS TAKE ON PARLI WEEK...

🇦🇺🤠 KATTER'S CoS TAKE ON PARLI WEEK🤠🇦🇺

So halfway through the Parli week and much has occurred.

Monday, Bob spoke in the Chamber on the desperate situation in Nth West QLD and Gulf cause by recent floods. Homes and sheds gone, businesses on their knees, huge stock losses, thousands of kms of fencing down, out of control feral pigs. Announced government assistance must be rolled out now and significant investment made in flood proofing infrastructure such as the Gairloch and Seymour crossings on the Bruce highway, and the Great Inland Highways and Savannah Railway.

On Tuesday, with the majors deaf on the issue of 'migration without integration' Bob forced debate on the topic, the Greens and Teals protested by retreating to their matcha, almond iced lattes and kale salads.. The independent, regional Crossbenchers supported, as did the Nats with the assistance of Barnaby. Debate ensued with Bob kicked out of the House at the insistence of Zali.. but not before the point was made 'no migration without integration'.

A couple of hours later Bob went back into the Chamber demanding real, tangible support for remote First Australians. Basic stuff that we all take for granted, access to fresh food and an ability to earn an income and invest in home ownership. Not more big, 'double-degree done nothin' bureaucrats!!!

Other legislation up for debate today and tomorrow includes:

🪖 Establishment of a Defence and Veterans Commission tasked with suicide prevention - but detail is lacking on the actual support available to assist defence personal in their transition to civilian life.

💸 Changes to Treasury laws to prevent some issues of double taxation - but nothing about giving families the opportunity for income splitting (dividing income with dependents to support families and help with the unfair taxation burden they carry).

💰 And perhaps the more abhorrent, exorbitant legislation, giving a further nearly $4B to Commonwealth departments to operate until June 2026!!! This is on top of the $100B that was already allocated to the same departments last year!!

It will be interesting to see if this huge, additional allocation of money is given any attention by the major parties or main stream media…

Yours in the Kattersphere
