
Kempsey Shire Council Appoints New CEO
Following a recent recruitment process, Mr. Andrew Meddle has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of Kempsey Shire Council. The appointment was endorsed by Councillors at a recent Extraordinary Meeting of Council.
Mr Meddle stems from Essex on the east coast of England and moved to Australia with his family in 2012. Residing in South Australia since this time, he has worked in local and state governments, leading a broad range of services as a General Manager and Chief Executive.
Mayor Kinne Ring shared the new appointment stating, “Council conducted an extensive recruitment process and we were fortunate to attract a very high standard of candidates. I am delighted to announce Mr Meddle’s appointment. He brings a wealth of experience from his career in government and the private and charity sectors, and is an excellent fit for this role.”
“We are confident that Andrew’s leadership and business acumen will bring positive changes and support our Council’s prosperous future.”
Over his career, Mr Meddle has gained a range of experience in youth services, libraries, open space, planning and transport, and heritage and conservation. He holds a joint Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Transport Planning, a degree in Countryside Planning, and qualifications in Countryside Management, Environmental Assessment, and Project Management.
“I am very much looking forward to joining the Kempsey team and learning more about the Council, the region and the communities served, whilst working collaboratively to address the challenges facing the Shire,” said Mr Meddle.
Mr Meddle will leave his current role as the General Manager for the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board to take up the role at Kempsey Shire Council on 2 June 2025.
