Labor Forces Delay To Families’ Cost-of-living Relief
Labor’s desperate grab for power, which forced an early election, has resulted in a vital family cost-of-living relief being put on hold.
The popular Eat Local, Stay Local campaign is designed to encourage families to support local businesses, giving our tourism and hospitality industry a mid-winter boost.
Tens of thousands of Tasmanian families were due to get the $100 vouchers in the coming weeks.
With Dean Winter forcing Tasmania to an early election and putting the Government into caretaker, the program has been put on hold until after the poll.
“It is disappointing that Labor’s actions have caused a delay to this family cost-of-living relief program until after the election,” Minister Howlett said.
“And it’s clear they will only go ahead if the Liberal government is returned.
“It’s not just a blow to the thousands of Tasmanians who were looking forward to some quality family time, but also to our tourism and hospitality operators and the one in six Tasmanians who work in and benefit from the increased activity through the cold winter months.
“We will ensure the grants are processed in the first week of a re-elected Liberal Government.”
