Angus Taylor Liberal for Hume
Angus was born and raised on the Monaro, one of four brothers from a well-known farming family of cattle and sheep graziers. He excelled academically, and after achieving degrees in both law and economics, was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University.
After university Angus returned to Australia to follow in his family’s footsteps, pursuing a career that has kept him deeply connected to the country.
Angus has helped establish and support many farming businesses, and understands first-hand the daily challenges that confront farmers. Through his farm leadership programs, which have mentored more than 400 up-and-coming Australian farmers, Angus has provided farmers with practical skills to help their business grow.
With his wife Louise and four young children, the Taylor family live in Goulburn. When Angus is not on the farm, he enjoys keeping fit and competes regularly in triathlons and running events, including representing Australia in the Triathlon World Championships in 2009.
Angus is passionate about delivering a better deal for regional Australia and is determined to use his energy and experience to help break down barriers to development in the country. As part of Tony Abbott’s Liberal team, Angus will work hard to deliver hope, reward and opportunity for the people of Hume.
