Livvi’s Place Reopens With Exciting New Upgrades

One of The Hills Shire’s most accessible and visited playgrounds just got even better thanks to a $2 million upgrade jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government.

All-abilities playground Livvi’s Place at Bernie Mullane Reserve in Kellyville, officially reopened on Tuesday, 14 April, following the completion of the upgrade that has made this special space more accessible.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the upgrade had transformed Livvi’s Place into an even more inclusive recreational space.

“This upgrade means Livvi’s Place can be enjoyed by even more children of all abilities, giving them a place to play, explore and connect in a safe and engaging environment,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Parents often consider the availability of accessible change rooms and bathroom facilities when deciding which park to visit.

“With Livvi’s Place also featuring a water play area, these new features will make outings more fun for families, reinforcing its status as a top destination for outdoor fun.”

The playground extension introduced a variety of new features, including an accessible multi-activity play tower, a double flying fox, slides, a climbing net, and swings designed for both toddlers and older children.

The project also included the construction of an accessible amenities building, complete with a ‘Changing Places’ room featuring an overhead hoist, shower, toilet, and ambulant unisex cubicles.

The upgrades also encompassed shade sails, picnic shelters, a dry creek bed, accessible park furniture, and wide pathways, ensuring a welcoming environment for everyone.

The Livvi’s Place Playground Extension Project was proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) Program in partnership with Council. The WSIG Program is delivering $2 billion of transformational infrastructure across Western Sydney – with $1.1 million going towards the Livvi’s Place project.

The NSW Government said it is proud to support the reopening of the Livvi’s Place Playground in Kellyville through the WSIG Program.

“This investment will provide local families with an accessible, modern, and inclusive space to play and connect, enhancing community wellbeing and open green spaces for generations to come,” the NSW Government said.

Originally opened in September 2017, Livvi’s Place was designed in collaboration with the Touched by Olivia Foundation to create an inclusive space where children of all abilities can play together.
