Medical Fund Boost: Tackling Australia’s Health Needs
Financial assistance to support the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Priorities 2022-2024 reports on MRFF funding between 6 November 2022 and 5 November 2024.
During this time, the MRFF awarded 578 grants for research into areas, including:
All funding was awarded via competitive grant opportunities.
The MRFF report found that the fund continues to have a strong focus on medical research commercialisation, particularly for small and medium enterprises. Multiple programs have supported research discoveries as they progress from idea to clinical implementation.
Funding reached all states and territories. While Victoria received the largest share at 42.2%, most states and territories had close to the average funded rate of 21.5%.
Universities are leading the majority of these new projects (519), though in practice, grants are collaborative research efforts across multiple Australian locations and organisations.
