Minister Anand Meets Greenland's Foreign Affairs Chief

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with Vivian Motzfeldt, Greenland's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Research, in Nuuk, Greenland.

During the meeting, Minister Anand highlighted Canada's desire to deepen diplomatic engagement with Greenland, including through the concrete step of opening a Canadian consulate in Nuuk.

The ministers discussed building on long-standing connections to enhance bilateral cooperation and commercial engagement between the two countries, including in mining and resource development, clean energy, infrastructure, air and sea transportation connectivity and economic security in a northern context.

Minister Anand also reaffirmed Canada's commitment to supporting Indigenous mobility and cultural exchange across the Arctic region, fostering people-to-people ties and promoting shared priorities in reconciliation.
