Minister Duclos Speaks on Canadian Digital Sovereignty
Today, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Quebec Lieutenant, issued the following statement:
“As the Government of Canada continues its digital transformation to provide better services to Canadians, the need for secure, reliable, and trustworthy technology solutions is increasing.
Today, I had the pleasure of hosting a roundtable discussion with a group of industry leaders to obtain their feedback on a made-in-Canada approach to technology. By leveraging homegrown technology solutions, we can empower our people, strengthen our economy, and build trust in government.
In the face of unjustified tariffs from the U.S., it’s more important than ever that we adopt a made-in-Canada approach to technology within the Government of Canada. Not only will this help fuel domestic growth, it will strengthen Canada’s digital sovereignty and ensure our country remains competitive on the global tech stage.
Today’s discussions were an important step in helping the Government of Canada build a framework for harnessing domestic innovation in our digital solutions.”
