More Sunday Services In New Weekend Bus Timetable
A new weekend bus timetable featuring more frequent bus services on Sundays will begin from Sunday 31 August 2025.
The new timetable will increase local bus frequency on Sundays, extending hourly services from first service in the morning until approximately 2:00 pm. Rapid bus services will continue to run every 15 to 30 minutes across the weekend.
Executive Branch Manager, Transport Canberra Bus Operations, Ian McGlinn, said Transport Canberra has worked hard to maintain the approximately 1,000 strong driver workforce so that more frequent Sunday services can be provided across the network while maintaining reliability.
“We know that the travel habits of Canberrans have changed and there is a demand from the community for more Sunday bus services. We have seen a positive increase in patronage on both local and rapid services since the introduction of hourly local bus services throughout the day on Saturdays last year.”

Changes to the new Sunday bus timetable will include:
In addition to the Sunday improvements, a new bus stop located at the new entrance to The Canberra Hospital on Bateson Road will be added to the bus network for Rapid 6 and Local 902 route services. The new bus stop has been constructed to provide accessible access for passengers travelling to and from The Canberra Hospital.
To accommodate this, Rapid 6 services to the bus stops on Ainsworth Street between Kitchener Street and Hindmarsh Drive will be temporarily diverted until further notice.
There are no changes to light rail frequencies which will continue to run every 15 minutes on weekends.
