Nannup Gears Up For Prestigious Gravel Cycling Event
The global SEVEN Gravel Race will kick off in Nannup today, bringing thousands of visitors to the region to watch the cycling endurance event.
The Cook Labor Government secured the race, which starts in the Nannup township, before riders travel along a 125-kilometre adventurous route through surrounding hills and forests.
As a world-class course, Nannup’s SEVEN Gravel Race joins 25 other global events in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Gravel World Series, which attracts some of the biggest names in gravel, road, and mountain bike racing from across the globe.
The race also acts as a qualifying event for the UCI Gravel World Championships in the Netherlands in October, which will then be held in Nannup in 2026.
Next year’s World Championships mark the first time the event has ever been held outside of Europe and is expected to attract thousands of out-of-state and international visitors to the region.
In 2024, the SEVEN Gravel Race attracted more than 2,500 visitors to the region, with similar numbers expected this year.
The SEVEN Gravel Race is proudly supported by the WA Government, through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program as part of a four-year contract until 2026.

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:
“We’re delighted to welcome back the SEVEN Gravel Race to Nannup, which showcases the South West region on a global stage and promotes the area’s world-class series of cycling trails.
“Thanks to direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney to Busselton, also delivered by the Cook Labor Government, it’s never been easier for spectators, competitors and officials to travel to Nannup to attend this fantastic endurance event.
“The WA Government is proud to support the UCI series through the Regional Events Program, as we know these large-scale sporting events act as a vital drawcard for visitors, boosting regional tourism and hospitality businesses, adding vibrancy to the community and injecting millions into local economies.”
