New Appointments To Airservices Australia Board

The Australian Government has welcomed Ms Susan Ferrier and Mr Douglas Bain as new members of the Airservices Australia Board.

These appointments will ensure continued strong leadership and experience at the helm of Airservices as it navigates modern challenges, plays a critical role managing Australia’s airspace safely, and provides aviation rescue and fire-fighting services.

Ms Ferrier brings strong cultural transformation expertise and more than 30 years experience working with boards and across major Australian and international banking corporations, consulting and legal firms.

She has served as the Independent Chair of Airservices’ Culture Reform Board since August 2024, is on the Symphony Orchestra and Financial Executives Institute boards, and is a People & Culture Committee member at the University of Sydney.

Mr Bain is an experienced Chartered Accountant with demonstrated expertise in driving financial performance.

He has more than 30 years of experience working across the construction, infrastructure, property and resources sectors.

Mr Bain is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently serves on several boards, including Odyssey House New South Wales.

Ms Ferrier and Mr Bain have been appointed on four and three-year terms respectively.

I congratulate both new members and look forward to continuing to work with the Airservices Board to ensure our aviation industry remains among the safest in the world.

I also thank outgoing member, Dr Eileen Doyle, for her service to the board since 2021.

Airservices is responsible for safely and efficiently managing 11 per cent of the world’s airspace, and providing aviation rescue fire-fighting services at Australia’s busiest airports.
