New Mental Health, Eating Disorder Clinic Opens in Peel
The Peel Community Mental Health Service and Kara Maar Specialist Community Eating Disorder Service clinic in Greenfields in Mandurah has now reached practical completion.
The project marks a major step forward in expanding capacity and improving access to mental health and eating disorder support across the Mandurah and Peel region.
The Peel Community Mental Health Service will offer a comprehensive continuum of care, supporting individuals through assessment, acute intervention, ongoing clinical treatment, psychosocial support and specialised rehabilitation to promote recovery, independence and longterm wellbeing.
Kara Maar's Specialist Community Eating Disorder Service will provide evidencebased assessment, treatment and physical health monitoring for people aged 16 and over who are experiencing or showing signs of an eating disorder. The service will offer multidisciplinary outpatient care, nutritional and meal support, and work collaboratively with patients, families and carers to support safe, sustained recovery.
Funded through the Commonwealth's Community Health and Hospitals Program, the new clinic will bring together clinicians and support teams in a contemporary, research-backed environment designed to support recovery and will be operated by the State.
This forms part of the government's commitment to expanding healthcare services in the region and includes the construction of a new hospital for the Mandurah and Peel regions at the current Peel Health Campus site. The new hospital will deliver:
