New Pedestrian Overpass Confirmed For Kingston
A new pedestrian overpass connecting Huntingfield Park and Ride and Hollyhock Drive in Kingston has been locked-in with $3.9 million as part of the 2025-26 Budget.
Minister for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said construction of the new overpass would be delivered as part of the Kingston Bypass Duplication and Algona Roundabout Upgrade.
“The new pedestrian overpass is a key part of the plan to improve safety and travel time along the Kingston Bypass through one of the fastest growing population centres of our State,” Minister Vincent said.
“By building integrated transport systems and linking it with accessible infrastructure we are helping more people to give buses a go, taking more cars off our roads and cutting congestion.”
Minister for Transport, Eric Abetz, said the new overpass would provide important safety benefits for all road users and nearby communities.
“The new overpass will significantly improve safety for pedestrians, particularly for nearby residents and those using active transport to access the Huntingfield Park and Ride,” Minister Abetz said.
“Current plans will see the overpass stretch across the Channel Highway from the Park and Ride to the subdivision developments in the area.
“It will make it easier and safer for residents of this rapidly expanding area to access and make the most of our express Kingston bus services.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re continuing to work hard to ensure Tasmanians have the services and infrastructure that they deserve.”
