New Secondary School For Cobblebank Students

The Allan Labor Government is building a new secondary school in Cobblebank to meet increasing enrolment demand from the growing community.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll joined Member for Melton Steve McGhie today at the site and turned a sod at the school grounds that will cater for up to 865 students, including 65 with disabilities.

Cobblebank Secondary College (interim name) is scheduled to open in Term 1 2026.

Once opened, the school will include two multi-storey buildings and a community hub. The facilities will include specialist areas for technology, science, music and drama as well as two hard courts and a sports field.

Ciar Foster has been appointed principal of Cobblebank Secondary School. She has over 14 years’ experience in school leadership roles and has worked across three secondary schools, most recently as principal of University High School in Melbourne.

Cobblebank Secondary College will be a supported inclusion school with specialised facilities and capabilities designed to accommodate students with disabilities.

Details on how to enrol and enrolment boundaries will be published later this year.

Haskell and Architectus were appointed the project’s architects in October 2023, while ADCO Constructions was appointed as the builder in November 2024.

The Government is investing record funding in schools to make Victoria the Education State.

In the Victorian Budget 2024/25, this school shared in $947.7 million allocated for new schools construction. This school also received Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution funding for construction.

In the past 10 years, the Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion in building new schools and more than 2,200 school upgrades.

As stated by Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll

“We said we’d deliver 100 new schools by 2026 and that’s exactly what we’re doing – Cobblebank Secondary School will provide a great education to families in this growing community.”

As stated by Member for Melton Steve McGhie

“More schools closer to home means local students have the facilities and classrooms they need to succeed.”
