New Upgrades Giving East Loddon Students Best Start

The Allan Labor Government is making sure more students at East Loddon College get the best education, close to home – with new specialised learning spaces delivered, making it easier for students to learn and teachers to teach.

Premier Jacinta Allan today joined students and teachers at East Loddon College to open the new $12.7 million upgrade including arts and science rooms, wood and metal workshops, home economics rooms and general classrooms.

Builder A.W Nicholson completed these works that also delivered a new teaching space, partial refurbishment and landscaping – creating 22 jobs during construction including 3,500 hours of apprenticeship work.

The Labor Government has invested more than $17.6 million in East Loddon College to upgrade and modernise facilities.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.

The Government has invested $16.9 billion to build new schools and deliver more than 2,200 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.

In addition, the Labor Government is helping busy families with the cost of living by making school uniforms cheaper with changes to student dress codes to ban school logos on shorts, pants, skirts and socks.

Schools can continue to have branding on hats, tops, shirts, dresses and jackets – everything from the waist up – because it’s important for school pride, making sure all kids walk into schools as equals, and recognising students in a crowd.

The Government’s more than $70 million investment into State Schools Relief has also supported more than 23,000 government school students with the Affordable School Uniform Program since 2024.

As stated by Premier Jacina Allan

“These new facilities will ensure more local students have the world-class education opportunities they deserve.”

“Thanks to this upgrade, we’re making sure every child has the best education facilities for generations to come.”

“Modern learning environments will help students boost creative thinking, promote STEM literacy, and inspire learning for life – critical skills for future success.”
