Tongs at the ready for Tamworth’s Bra-B-Q fundraiser
A sausage sizzle will have mouths salivating and Serendipity celebrating at tomorrow’s Bra-B-Q in Tamworth’s Fitzroy Street Mall.
The event, hosted by radio stations 2TM and 92.9fm, comes as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with funds raised going towards Serendipity Tamworth – one of our region’s leading breast cancer awareness and fundraising organisations.
Nationals Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson, who has donated the sausage sizzle, will be joining some of the biggest stars in local radio on the tongs, cooking up a storm for hungry locals at the cost of just a gold coin donation.
“Breast Cancer Awareness month is such an important annual campaign when it comes to ensuring that every woman has access to the screening she needs and the support she deserves,” Mr Anderson said.
“Here in Tamworth, Serendipity have spent decades leading the way when it comes to raising funds and advocating on behalf of breast cancer patients.
“Their work has seen improvements to local facilities as well as a sustained campaign to increase awareness and mammography screening in the region which is why I am thrilled that all money raised as part of tomorrow’s Bra-B-Q will go towards supporting them.
“If you can’t make it down to the Fitzroy Street Mall tomorrow, tune in to either 2TM or 92.9fm who will be broadcasting live from the event from 8 a.m.
“It is so important that we continue to raise the issue of breast cancer because it just might save a life and I thank 2TM and 92.9fm for hosting this great community event, raising money to support local women who are going through cancer treatment.
92.9fm breakfast presenter JB said it’s fantastic to get back out and do fundraising events again after a difficult few years
“The work that Serendipity Tamworth do for the local community is just amazing… plus, who can’t beat a sausage sizzle?!” he said.
The BBQ will start at 10:30 am.
