NZ’s Future Census Options Evaluated in New Report
Recommendations from the Future Census Independent Evaluation Panel evaluating how future censuses could be delivered.
The Government Statistician convened the Future Census Independent Evaluation Panel in July 2024 to provide an impartial and robust review of possible approaches for modernising the census.
The Panel’s report includes 83 recommendations and played a key role in informing the Government Statistician’s in-principle decision on how the next census will be run, and Stats NZ’s work to realise it.
This response identifies the Panel recommendations accepted by Stats NZ for actioning, and the recommendations that we commit to considering during the design phases for the next census.
