On 26 January people gathered peacefully in Boorloo - Perth.
Forrest Place has been the home to democratic expression for more than a century.
What followed was an abhorrent attack on people exercising their democratic rights.
It was an attack on First Nations people.
It was an attack on all Australians.
And it was indeed an attack on our democracy.
It was a potential terrorist act designed to harm.
And to kill our fellow Australians.
It breaks my heart.
Today the Parliament stood with First Nations people in condemning this act and reaffirming our enduring commitment to their safety.
