Deon Benton, assistant professor of psychology & human development, and Sophia Vinci-Booher, assistant professor of educational neuroscience, were named APS Rising Stars by the Association for Psychological Science. The award is presented to outstanding APS Members in the earliest stages of their research career post-Ph.D.
Lena Zewdu Feleke, a Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools student from the School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt’s senior class, was named as Tennessee’s only top 40 finalist in this year’s Regeneron Science Talent Search.
Douglas Fuchs, Nicholas Hobbs Chair of Special Education and Human Development, Emeritus, and research professor of special education, was awarded the 2025 Norman Geschwind Memorial Lecture and Award from the International Dyslexia Association.
Ellen Goldring and Jason Grissom are contributors to the Live Handbook, a new digital hub for evidence-based education policy research and an initiative of the Association for Education Finance and Policy. The handbook provides comprehensive analyses of research to inform decision-makers.
Deborah Rowe, Carolyn M. Evertson Professor in Teacher Education, was inducted into the Reading Hall of Fame at the Literacy Research Association’s annual conference.
Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein, PhD’15, was honored by the Biden Administration with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). The award represents the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers.
Shadi Omidvar Tehrani, Ph.D. candidate in community research and action, received the Vanderbilt University 2025 Provost’s Pathbreaking Discovery Award. The award celebrates doctoral students who demonstrate truly exceptional research and scholarship.
Tehrani and Douglas Perkins, professor of human and organizational development, won the Paper of the Year Award from the COVID journal for their study, “Public Health Resources, Religion, and Freedom as Predictors of COVID-19 Vaccination Rates: A Global Study of 89 Countries.”
Christine Quinn Trank, professor of the practice of leadership, policy, and organizations, has been named editor of the Academy of Management Collections beginning in July.
Samantha Viano, PhD’18, won the Jack A. Culbertson Award, from the University Council for Educational Administration.
