Penfold Unveils Gloucester District Aid Package
More than $500,000 in direct project funding will be invested in building and upgrading important community facilities under a Gloucester District package developed by Nationals candidate for Lyne Alison Penfold in partnership with local communities.
Ms Penfold said the investment would flow to four separate projects in communities along Bucketts Way, as well as a share of $19.2 million to plan the upgrade to the Bucketts Way/Twelve Mile Creek intersection, if she was elected as part of a Coalition Government on 3 May.
“Each one of these projects will enhance the liveability and lifestyle of communities along Bucketts Way and I’ve committed to delivering this funding after working with members of the community,” she said.
“The Nationals are the only party that identify, work on and deliver projects that have their genesis in regional communities. We have our finger on the pulse of our communities and understand that sometimes smaller communities can’t achieve what’s on their wish list without targeted and strategic investment from other levels of government.
“By committing to these projects if elected to Government, we’ll be able to get them underway as fast as possible while also easing the financial burden on ratepayers and user groups.”
Funding has been committed to four individual projects in communities along Bucketts Way:
Gloucester sports lighting
$380,000 contribution towards upgraded lighting at local netball and tennis facilities. Specifically, the funding will go towards replacing four existing light poles at the netball courts, and installing eight light poles at the tennis courts and LED luminaries to 350 lux for competition standard play.
Wards River playground
$115,000 towards a major facelift for the playground at Wards River Park on the Bucketts Way, installing new playground equipment.
Stratford half basketball court
A share of $350,000 to build a series of half basketball courts throughout the region, including a brand-new court in Stratford.
Stroud Heritage Walk
$50,000 to build a walking path to extend the Stroud Heritage Walk around the showground, down into Mill Creek and link back into town, creating a town loop.
Ms Penfold said the Gloucester District Community package was part of her big-picture plan to create stronger, safer and better communities for Lyne through investment in social infrastructure.
“Our former member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie did a tremendous amount of work for the area and I will follow in his footsteps of listening, caring and delivering. It’s a big job but one I am committed to doing.”
