Peter Dutton

Australians have always been able to rely on those who wear the uniform at a state and federal level.

They go into the line of fire and into danger zones so that we don’t have to.

Today, we acknowledge the compassion, commitment and courage of Constables Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold who were callously ambushed and murdered on 12 December.

We also pay tribute to Constables Randall Kirk and Keeley Brough whose bravery, composure and quick-thinking helped save their own lives – as well as others – in calling for back-up.

I hope that the virtues displayed by Constables McCrow, Arnold, Kirk and Brough continue to inspire Australia’s next generation of young police officers.

We honour the fallen, we will never forget the deeds and dedication of these four young police officers, and may our remembrance instil confidence in us to confront evil wherever it lurks.
