PlayOn WA: Energizing Community Sports to 2030
The Western Australian Government has today launched PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 – a bold new initiative to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across the State through to 2030.
PlayOn WA will ensure sport and recreation facilities keep pace with growing communities, support active lifestyles and provide inclusive spaces where Western Australians of all ages and abilities can connect, grow and move.
The program will deliver 2,030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by the year 2030, helping to deliver a lasting and positive impact across WA communities.
Projects being delivered through the program will span metropolitan, regional and remote WA, supporting grassroots sport, aquatic centres, club upgrades and open spaces that bring people together.
The program is supported by $332 million in funding for sports infrastructure projects in the 2025-26 State Budget, including:
PlayOn WA reflects the WA Government’s ongoing investment in healthier, more connected communities through the delivery of accessible sport and recreation spaces for all Western Australians.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
“Sport and recreation are part of the fabric of Western Australian life.
“We want all Western Australians – no matter where they live – to have access to world-class sporting facilities and clubs and we’re really proud as a government to be investing record amounts in community sporting infrastructure.
“Not only does this support healthier lifestyles through sport and physical activity but also brings people together to create a sense of community.
“Through PlayOn WA we’re delivering high quality and accessible facilities that are vital for building a healthy and connected community.
“This initiative is about more than buildings and ovals; it’s about creating places where people of all ages can discover their passion for sport and recreation, and communities can stay active and healthy for generations to come.”
