Queensland Budget: No New Taxes or Fees for Businesses
No new taxes or charges were introduced in the Queensland budget delivered today by Queensland Treasurer, David Janetzki.
The Crisafulli government has focussed on budget repair, whilst delivering on programs promised in the election campaign last year.
“The Australian Industry Group has called for the Queensland Government to support businesses of all sizes by streamlining regulation and charges,” said the national employer association’s Queensland Head, Michelle Farquhar.
“It is pleasing to see there are no additional taxes or charges, despite the fiscal challenges the Government is facing.
“While royalties are forecast to decline in coming years, the State has enjoyed exceptional income from the mining sector so far this decade.
“A more diverse and dynamic state economy could provide a more sustainable pathway for prosperity, rather than relying on royalties and traditional industries,” Ms Farquhar said.
