Did you know Queensland’s current laws allow 10 year old children to be locked in prison? Many of these kids are detained alongside adults overnight – some for more than 2 weeks. 77% are First Nations.
This must stop. The Qld Labor Government must #RaiseTheAge of criminal responsibility to at least 14. We need to invest in solutions that work, not more prison cells.
More from Michael Berkman – Greens MP for Maiwar:

This is where sensationalist media reporting and political posturing has got us. The “tough on crime” obsession, pouring money into more police and prisons while underfunding services, has failed.
It’s time to drop the lies that more cages will keep us safe. Give us solutions that WORK instead.
