In Qld, there are nearly 87,000 homes sitting empty while families live in caravans and tents - struggling to find an affordable rental.

Why? Because it’s been more profitable to sit on vacant residential land, wait to sell an empty house at a huge profit, or make a quick buck on Airbnb. It has to change.

That's why today, Amy MacMahon - Greens MP for South Brisbane introduced legislation for The Greens’ Empty Homes Levy 👏

A 5% levy on long-term vacant residential properties will bring 20,000+ homes to the rental market, get a roof over the heads of desperate renters and help ease the housing crisis in Qld 🏡✊
