Human Rights Watch has described the scale of protest, particularly on issues of women’s choice and police accountability, as unprecedented. Iranians of Queensland are asking us to stand alongside the people of Iran, to spread their call to justice and freedom to the entire world. I and the Australian Greens express our solidarity with all Iranians, including the women, LGBTQIA+ people, and other minorities including the Bahai, who are taking to the streets to fight for their rights and democratic freedom. We will always champion the right to protest, and women’s rights to choose their dress, their partner, their religion, their career, and what they do with their bodies.
