“Racism kills. Violence against First Nations people in this country must end. I stand with you, I will fight for you and do everything I can to bring justice to the family and community.” – Senator Lidia Thorpe.
15-year-old Noongar boy Cassius Turvey was in year 9. He ran a pay-what-you-can lawn mowing business on the weekend. He had just lost his father to cancer. He was a kid. This is the ongoing and devastating reality of racist violence in Australia.
Our thoughts are with Cassius’ family and friends.
There is a vigil organised by Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance – WAR on 2 Nov at 6pm in King George Square: Candle Light Vigil for Cassius Turvey. There is also a vigil in Townsville, at Strand (march begins at Rock Pool end) on 2 Nov from 10am to 3pm.
