This #RUOKDay2022 we can’t say it better than our Mental Health spokesperson, Senator Jordon Steele-John:

Sure ask people if they’re ok…
Checking in is important – but so is thinking about the wellbeing of the people around you for more than one day a year.
Even more important perhaps, is acknowledging that disclosing mental health distress often requires tremendous courage and bravery. To support the people in your life to feel comfortable disclosing this information to you, I encourage you to try to create a safe environment for them every single day.
An environment free of stigma, judgement and unforeseen consequences.
If someone does disclose something to you today (or any day) the conversation should not end there.
Helping connect somebody to safe, inclusive and relevant mental health services is the next step.
Oh and wouldn’t this all be so much easier if mental health was covered by Medicare?
