🚨 TOONDAH WETLANDS SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 6 DEC 🚨
Can you take a few minutes to help save our beautiful harbour from development? Toondah Harbour is the gateway to Minjerrabah (Stradbroke Island). The internationally significant wetlands are home to threatened Eastern curlews and other birds, turtles and dugongs. It is a much-loved recreational area and a place of cultural significance to First Nations people 🐦🐢
Walker Corporation, one of Australia’s biggest property developers (and a generous political donor), together with the Queensland Labor government, are planning a massive property development ON the wetlands. Queensland Labor are even arguing that this is an answer to the housing crisis – as if a luxury property development is going to help anyone. Queensland Labor have approved this under a ‘Priority Development Area’, an appalling planning loophole designed to usher in huge, for-profit developments.
Make a submission before 6 December, to tell the Environment Minister and Walker Corporation that we say no: greens.org.au/campaigns/protect-toondah
