We’ve got a plan for Inclusionary Zoning in Qld that requires developers to transfer one-in-four of new dwellings built, to the government for public housing 🏡 Inclusionary Zoning is a straight-forward approach, already in place in other parts of the country, that would rapidly expand our public housing 💪

More from Amy MacMahon – Greens MP for South Brisbane:

For too long, property developers with their Labor and LNP mates have been turning our inner-city neighbourhoods into playthings for wealthy investors. The Greens’ Inclusionary Zoning Bill will turn one in four new apartments into public housing, providing good quality homes for thousands of Queenslanders, cutting down the social-housing waitlist, and making sure we have diverse neighbourhoods.

Building more luxury, unaffordable apartments in the inner-city doesn’t fix the housing crisis; it worsens the crisis, drives up rents, and kicks working people out of their neighbourhoods. But by requiring these wealthy developers to set aside a portion of their stock as public housing, the state government can help ensure those families living in tents in a park or that child growing up in a car can have a safe, secure roof over their head.
