Raising Glass To Victoria’s Premier Wines For 2025
The Allan Labor Government is celebrating some of Victoria’s most exciting winemakers at this year’s Victorian Wine Show, showcasing the best wine on offer from across the state.
Premier Jacinta Allan joined Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence and Member for Eureka and Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Michaela Settle to honour the winners of this year’s Premier’s Trophy and the Premier’s Choice Award.
The Premier’s Trophy recognises the ‘best of the best’ in Victorian wine, with the champion selected from the winners of Victoria’s regional wine shows. A panel of industry experts including winemakers and sommeliers awarded the trophy to Adrian Rodda from A. Rodda Wines for the 2023 Baxendale Chardonnay.
Based in Beechworth, Adrian sources Chardonnay grapes from premium vineyards across Victoria – grapes for the winning wine were sourced from Baxendale Vineyard at Whitlands, in the King Valley.
The Premier also selected the 2023 Baxendale Chardonnay by A. Rodda Wines as the recipient of the Premier’s Choice Award – the first year the same wine has won both awards.
Wine is an integral part of Victoria’s regional economy, providing jobs at wineries, vineyards, and cellar doors and contributes $9.5 billion to the Victorian economy. The industry attracts visitors from across the state and around the world into Victoria’s wine regions, proving to be an enduring and popular tourist drawcard.
The Government is backing the wine industry through market development programs including the $4.5 million Wine to the World export program. The government is also working closely with industry to capture new opportunities as part of the Victorian Wine Strategy, which is set to be launched later in 2025.
We acknowledge the hard work from the Victorian Wine Show who organised the judging and the regional shows.
