Over the last few days, my office has received a number of inquiries about foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). We have been liaising with the Agriculture Minister and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to stay on top of any developments.
Today’s announcement to beef up biosecurity measures in Australian airports is very welcomed, and I’ll be meeting with Minister Watt in Canberra later this month to discuss what more we as a community can do to mitigate risks to Australian farms.
