This week I have had the pleasure of attending three commemorative events held by groups who received funding through the Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee grant round. Despite living what appeared to be an extravagant lifestyle from the public viewpoint, the late Queen never lost her true love of the natural environment. It was hoped that by planting trees in her honour this legacy would live on in a lasting and environmentally beneficial way. So congratulations to the Hindmarsh Island Landcare Group Inc Group, Port Elliot Community Garden and the Macclesfield Community Association, I look forward to watching your projects grow and thrive well into the future.
