REMONDIS Australia Boosts Stake in GO Organics WA
Boonanarring WA, 14 May 2025, REMONDIS Australia – REMONDIS Australia has made a significant break into Western Australia’s organics waste management market, having acquired a majority shareholding in JD Organics Pty Ltd, trading as GO Organics.
GO Organics processes food, garden and organic liquid wastes through various composting methods. It also supplies composted products to retail and commercial markets, local government and farmers who use the products to improve soil health. GO Organics’ wholesale customers include landscape suppliers and nurseries, and retail customers choose from a diverse range of bagged compost, mulch and manure products marketed under various brands.
Effective as of 1 May 2025, the transaction has seen REMONDIS Australia take operational control of the business via a majority shareholding. Founder and well-known organics management leader Donovan Farrell retains a minor shareholding.
This operation will now be known as ‘REMONDIS GO Organics’ and adopt a co-branded logo in recognition of the well-established GO Organics business. Compost products will retain the GO Organics brand.
Operations will remain headquartered at Boonanarring 110 kilometres north of Perth, with all employees retained.
The acquisition enables REMONDIS to operate along the full organics value chain in Western Australia, including collection logistics, processing, compost production and sale. At the Boonanarring facility, incoming food, garden and commercial organics are sorted, screened, and processed to create premium, certified organic composts, mulches and soil products meeting Australian Standards.
REMONDIS Australia’s General Manager WA Chris Gusenzow said the acquisition was part of the company’s national goal to lead the way with organics recycling and expand organics services to customers.
“Everyone from business and government through to residential households wants less landfill and more recycling, and advanced organics management is critical to that,” Chris said.
“GO Organics has researched and invested smartly in their infrastructure and processes over many years, emerging as a foremost food organic and garden organic recycler and compost supplier.
“Under the new REMONDIS GO Organics brand we can add new layers of international expertise with a view to supercharging intake and output and offering an expanded range of services and products to our customers.
“In cooperation with Donovan and the GO Organics team, we are joining forces for our customers. Ultimately, we envisage doubling processing capacity to around 124,000 tonnes annually in the not-too-distant future.
“This puts us in the box seat to be a leading participant in any rollouts of municipal FOGO (food and garden organics) and commercial FO (food organics) recycling in the wider Perth region.”
Donovan Farrell said it would be business as usual for existing customers as operations expand.
“Being a family-run business for so many years has enabled us to maintain customer rapport and been the backbone of our success,” Donovan said.
“Our continued shareholding means that family touch will continue as we tap into the know-how of one of the world’s largest waste management operators.
“Bigger investment in equipment and systems is front and centre as we commence the next legs of our journey with REMONDIS, meaning better service and cost efficiency for customers old and new. It’s also highly likely we’ll be investing in more staff as we grow.
“The hands down winner though is the environment. We’re talking about a lot of organic waste being diverted from landfill and converted to valuable resources,” added Donovan.
