January 26 is not a date to celebrate; for First Nations people it marks 238 years of dispossession, oppression and inequality.

It is a day of mourning, and a reminder of the survival and the resistance First Nations people have always shown.

Sovereignty has never been ceded - this always was and always will be First Nations land.
