Sail Port Stephens Back for Month-Long Yachting Fest
The series will kick off with the prestigious Commodores Cup (PHS) and Port Stephens Trophy (ORC) from 31 March to 5 April, followed by the SPS Performance Series from 25 to 27 April and lastly, the Bay Series from 2 to 4 May.
Mayor Leah Anderson highlighted the long-standing partnership between Port Stephens Council and the event, noting its significant economic impact.
“Port Stephens Council has been a proud partner of Sail Port Stephens since 2007, and we’re very happy to be continuing this journey with Paul O’Rourke and his dedicated team,” said Mayor Anderson.
“It’s always fantastic to see our shores buzzing with excitement as we welcome sailors, enthusiasts, and spectators from all over Australia.
“We’re thankful to Destination NSW and the NSW Government for their continued support, allowing us to showcase the beauty of Port Stephens to a global audience.
“Sail Port Stephens is not only a thrilling sporting spectacle but it’s also a significant contributor to our local economy.
“So many of our local businesses receive extra visitors, and the event is of huge benefit to our hotels, marinas, cafes, restaurants, and shops,” Mayor Anderson added.
Port Stephens Council will be hosting a range of community events for locals and visitors to enjoy.
“The event you won’t want to miss is the Sail Port Stephens Street Party – it’s going to be a very lively atmosphere in Stockton and Magnus Streets in Nelson Bay next Wednesday,” Mayor Anderson said.
“And for our sailing supporters, make sure you visit our Locals Lounges to see all the action from the best vantage points, at Nelson Bay foreshore on 4 and 5 April and then at Soldiers Point on 3 May,” Mayor Anderson concluded.
