Small Business Economic Reform Roundtable
Small business representatives will gather at Parliament House today to pitch their ideas for driving Australia’s productivity and long‑term economic reform.
The meeting will feed into the broader Economic Reform Roundtable next month to ensure it has a strong small business perspective.
Minister for Small Business, Dr Anne Aly, said she was eager to hear ideas and insights from small business leaders.
“Small businesses represent aspiration and people contributing to our economy,” said Dr Aly.
“Today’s roundtable is about hearing the best ideas to focus our efforts and enhance small business productivity and resilience.
“We’re ensuring that the voices of small businesses are heard. I look forward to sharing ideas from today with the Treasurer ahead of the Economic Reform Roundtable.
“Small businesses are vital to our economy, employing millions of Australians and serving their communities, today is about ensuring we’re doing all we can to support them.”
Attendees will represent a broad range of Australia’s diverse small business sectors, including manufacturing, hospitality, building, farming and finance.
They’ve been asked to consider where they see opportunities to improve outcomes for small businesses, or where coordinated national action could drive meaningful change.
Dr Aly will also host a meeting next week of state and territory Small Business Ministers.
The Economic Reform Roundtable, hosted by the Treasurer, will be held at Parliament House in Canberra from 19 to 21 August.
The Council of Small Business Organisations Australia and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been invited to attend the Economic Reform Roundtable.
